ISSF Shooting

  International Shooting Sport Federation governs basically the Olympic shooting events plus a few more events at World shooting championships. The sport has three main categories; Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun. 

My discipline is rifle

Currently the shooting disciplines are undergoing some quite big changes to correct the gender imbalance at Olympic games. The new events will have equal numbers of women to men and there will be "mixed" teams events.

At World championships you will now see the Olympic rifle disciplines;

• Ten metre Air Rifle
• Fifty metre 3 position

And also

• Mens 50 meter prone (now removed from the Olympics)
• 300 meters prone 
• 300 meters 3 position
•  Running target events, 10 and 50 meters

I have to admit that ISSF rifle shooting in New Zealand is not very strong at the moment. It is quite worrying actually.
